Comparing Consoles- Xbox 360 vs. PS3
Hey everyone, welcome back to my hobbies and leisure blog. Today I wanted to start a new series which I call Comparing Consoles. This is a series where I go and find two used video game consoles from the same generation and compare their games, specifications and so on. I thought I would start the series off on a familiar note so I went to http://www.used.forsale/canada and found a used Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. I used to play the Xbox 360 quite often as you may remember from my gaming with friends post, so I will be trying my hardest to keep this non biased.
The Xbox 360 was the first console that was solely mine. I bought it, I bought the games, and I loved it. I would come home from school and play some Halo all day, and all night. But I am going to try and keep feeling out of this. The Xbox 360 was released in Fall 2005 in North America, and Winter 2005 in Europe and Japan. The console was launched in 36 different countries during the first full year which at the time was more countries than any other console had launched in during a one year period. I got myself a used xbox 360 at http://www.used.forsale/canada/calgary/xbox-360 that works perfectly for being a 12 year old console.
The Playstation 3 came out to a slow start on the market, partially because of repeated delays. This was somewhat saved by introduction of the Slim model, and later the Super Slim which was released only 5 years ago. I was only able to get a used Super Slim although it was really cheap from www.used.forsale/canada/calgary/playstation-3-super-slim. I wanted to test these two consoles in their original state, but most of the first generation Playstation 3 consoles I found were modded so this was the closest to original.
Both consoles are quite similar, but at the same time quite different. When I used to play on these consoles I would find that the online play on the Xbox 360 was more difficult and I had many friends who agreed. In terms of technical specifications, the Playstation 3 blows the Xbox 360 out of the water even when comparing the newer Xbox 360 models. Unfortunately, the Playstation is hampered by lack of exclusive games, where as the Xbox 360 had a plethora of console exclusives including Halo and Gears of War. Ultimately, because of the larger selection when it comes to multiplayer gaming and the more challenging community, I have to give this one to the Xbox 360.
Xbox 360 Wins!
I tried to keep my personal feelings out of this, and I think I failed. I just have too many fond memories driving a warthog into a group of grunts in Halo. The easily accessible online community was also a huge draw to me, and the gamers playing online are a better community in my opinion. I hope you guys liked this post, if you want me to do more of them then let me know!
